Industrial Vacuum Sealers in Odd Places

We routinely work with companies in a number of different industries. From those in apparel looking to keep their products dry and safe during shipping to those in clean room facilities where keeping the elements out of packaging is a must to those in the food industry looking to preserve their foods, there are many different needs industrial heat sealers serve. We were a bit surprised to learn about one industrial heat sealer application we weren’t familiar with – the mattress industry.

A recent Entrepreneur article highlighted a fairly new startup, Tuft and Needle, using industrial heat sealers to diminish packaging costs. The piece highlighted the company’s background story. In 2011, founder JT Marino started looking for a mattress and fought through the process to come up with a quality product at the right price. After spending $3000 only to discover he hated the mattress he’d bought, he knew there had to be a better way. Working with an old friend, Daehee Park, Marino built a company that now sells two styles of foam mattresses, ranging in price from $200 to $600. The key here, though, is that they can be shipped all over the country cheaply because they utilize an industrial vacuum sealer to compress the mattresses to a flat state. They sell both through their website and Amazon.
